However, many more mountains can be viewed from afar.
Equestrian Trail Riding & Scenic Trails
In Summer and Fall especially, there is endlessly magnificent mountain scenery for equine trail rides and hikes, just out the doorsteps of Black Mountain Ranches. At Twelvemile Lake, you may catch a beautiful view of Lamb Mountain. The Twelvemile Lake Trail and Rough & Tumble Creek Trail are among the local favorites for equestrian rides, hiking or fishing. Sheep Creek Trail is also a favorite for equestrian, mountain biking or hiking. There is an abundant forest trail and BLM network surrounding the nearby areas and other trails to check out are along the South Fork Platte and Cave Creek. While some residents prefer to trailer their horses to the nearby trailheads, you can take the leisurely tour along the road to get to certain nearby trails.
Fishing & Creeks
Experienced anglers will love grabbing their rod and reel to cast a line in the infamously lucky waters flowing around and through the Black Mountain Ranches. Twelvemile Creek, the Beaver Ponds and Four Mile Creek are nearby water holes, where your chances of a bite are good. Within a short drive, there are also popular stocked reservoirs like Spinney, ElevenMile, Antero and Montgomery Reservoir and the South Platte River.
